Description | Log in to edit this description! | System 4 - RadioPhone In July 1981 System 4 was launched in London,initially sharing the same
freq allocation as System 3 but with 12.5 Khz FM, it had 110 channels to
play with when System 3 was finally switched off in Jan 1986.
System 4 was the first UK radiophone service to allow the user to set up a call themselveswithout the aid of an operator. It was also the first UK system where duplex speech was the norm on all handsets.
