Description | Log in to edit this description! | Is a CDL 200 series car phone mounted in a briefcase. Came out just one year after the very first OKI CS-1 car phone. All the old OKI phones have a white coloured handset, later models are black. Very hard to find.

| Hi. This is one of my two most favourite phones now, this and the Dynatac 4000 car phone. It is my oldest fully working mobile phone, it still works fine with my test set. I was very surprised ! Unfortunately the briefcase is very worn, is not real leather either, this is why it is falling apart. It came with the original users handbook, and another Line One Ameritech booklet that details coverage around Chicago. This booklet is dated 1983, and Chicago was where the first AMPS system was launched in 1983, fantastic ! The phone handbook is dated 1984.
It has a large spring loaded antenna that can be folded down, or you can use an external antenna in the car. All the 20 or so memories still have the assigned phone numbers. The total talk time is 3995 minutes, a fair bit of use. Would have cost a lot in 1984 for sure, but do not know the price. The person I bought it from was not the original owner, so I have no further info on its history & use.
Very pleased with this latest purchase !
Cheers, Chris. | |
| Excellent find Chris, good show! Nice LED display on it. I'm surprised it was originally NiCD and not lead acid. | |
| Hello, I am brand new and own This briefcase cell phone I bought it new it is still in pretty good condition including all original paper work including the original $850. sales receipt and I would like to know a value range to sell it. Thanks Joe | |
| Hi. I paid $100 USD for mine, in pretty good but well used condition. I would think you would get a bit more for it if it is in better condition. Have you tried powering it up, does it still power on ok ? Also, could you possibly upload a copy of the sales receipt for it, I would be interested in seeing this. I believe these phones are quite hard to find now, have not seen many for sale in the last year at least. | |
