Notes: As with the 8500 VIP, Motorola offered a VIP version of the 8600 in 1997 in black with a red LED display and lowercase characters for phone book entries. The VIP package included all available accessories for the StarTAC (slim and standard lithium-ion main batteries, slim and standard auxiliary lithium-ion batteries, handsfree kit, desktop charger, cigarette lighter adapter, and instructional video). Along with all of the features of the 8500, the 8600 added caller ID & pager capability and most notably, a built-in answering machine and voice memo recorder, which could record up to 4 minutes of messages/memos/phone calls, with an extra button near the antenna base for taking quick memos. These handsets also featured metallic accents for the volume keys, batwing logo on the back, and embossed "StarTAC" & "Motorola" logos on the inner/outer top flip, respectively. Original MSRP: USD $1,750
