Well, I recently bought another Microtac Elite phone, the standard version, grey case & orange LED display.
Was working ok at first, but found that there was some problem with the number 5 button.
Every time the 5 was pressed, the phone would turn off, wierd !!
So I tried manipulating the 5 button several times, could have been a dirty contact, but after this, the phone is now completely dead, no power on at all. I have opened it up, & put contact cleaner on the button contacts, still no good.
Not happy ! The third phone I have recently bought now that has been a complete dud.

The only good thing that came out of this Elite purchase was it came with the very hard to find Li-Ion battery pack, and it charges up well still. Will use this with the other working Elite VIP.
These Li-Ion battery packs were very expensive, nearly half the cost of the phone itself, so not many people bought them.
I believe that the Microtac Elite was one of the very first, if not the first, mobile phone to use a Li-Ion battery pack.
