Re: Motorola InfoTACHi Thomas.
Interesting InfoTAC model you have, I have not seen one with a transparent case. This looks like the 450 MHz version with the extendable antenna. Have you tried powering yours up ? They used a 7.5v Nicad pack, but my original battery was stuffed, so made a new one. The unit is powered & charged with 12v DC, centre pin positive. Shame I cannot actually use it anymore ! Do you have any documentation for the InfoTAC ? I am after a copy of the user guide for it. Cheers, Chris
Re: Motorola InfoTACHello Chris,
unfortunately the device lost a contact, so I can not test it. I saved the modem in the resolution of the Motorola Wireless Data Division from scrapping. Unfortunately, I have neither a guide nor any information about the InfoTAC. Sorry. Cheers Thomas
Re: Motorola InfoTACHi Thomas.
So you now have a user guide & handbook for the InfoTAC ? If so, I would love to have a copy of this. Especially interested in how to talk to it with a PC. Cheers, Chris
Re: Motorola InfoTACHi Chris,
Yes, I have now the manual for the InfoTAC, because it was still unused in it´s box. However, it is in German. I am still this week on vacation and it'll copy and upload beginning the week after next. Cheers Thomas
Re: Motorola InfoTACThanks Thomas, much appreciated. Don't care if it is in German, will still be useful to me.
And I see the brief guides are in English as well. Cheers, Chris
Re: Motorola InfoTACI have made up a serial adapter for this InfoTAC. Appears to work ok. When the InfoTAC is connected to my laptop serial port, and I open a session with Putty, a computer symbol appears on the InfoTAC screen. But I cannot log into it or anything, tried some different serial port settings with no luck.
Thomas, I am very keen to get the info from you. Do you know if it needs special software to talk to it with a PC ? I see a floppy disk in your photo. If so, I would be very keen to get a copy of the software. Also, does the handbook say what the serial port settings should be set to ? Cheers, Chris
Re: Motorola InfoTACHi Chris,
The manuals are attached. I am not sure about the software on the floppy disk. I do not have a floppy drive within my laptop and do not know anybody who may have such an old device... I hope the manual will help you! Cheers Thomas
Re: Motorola InfoTACThanks Thomas, great !
But it sadly has no info about how to actually talk to a PC with it. Has the wiring diagram for the PC cable, but I have made an adapter already. And thanks so much for uploading more old mobile phone brochures ! Cheers, Chris.
